Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff! People Are Gonna Do What People Do!

Doctor Birx who has something to do with the President’s coronavirus team has said that she is worried about scenes of people crowding themselves together like sardines on beaches and elsewhere.

Some officials in the State of Missouri have been complaining about what they perceive as irresponsible behavior by those crowding themselves together in defiance of social distancing orders and face mask orders and other related things.

The State of Virginia is reportedly talking about their increasing caseload of coronavirus victims ….after their governor loosened covid-19-related safety restrictions …

There is an obvious growing division among the American People about whether or not to accept social isolating measures as a defense against the coronavirus and this is obviously leading to a lot of civil disobedience of the laws designed to protect people from the virus.

I am the type of guy who looks at all this and who listens to all the knuckle draggers out there with the beer in hand, the gun on their hip, their hound dog at their heels and their wives barefoot and pregnant at home, and I say to myself, “This is America! If the assholes want to go ahead and get themselves killed by ignoring the coronavirus, then it is no skin off my nose and I don’t give a damn!” Let them do it! Just don’t let them do it to me!

I am going to pray for their eternal souls because I am a Christian, but there isn’t a blessed thing that I can do to save their ignorant asses, so I leave that little detail to God to sort out.

I Made An Old-Fashioned Depression Cake Today!

When I was a child, we were living in the last days of what some people call “The Great Depression” and things that we take for granted today were pretty scarce. Sugar and butter and eggs were among the items that were often hard to find. So my Mom made do with what was on hand and we often enjoyed chocolate-flavored “Depression Cake” which was baked entirely without any eggs, milk or butter at all. It actually turned out quite good!

The recipe:

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour — you do not have to sift the flour!
  • 1.5 cups regular granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp common table salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup cooking oil — I just use regular all-vegetable cooking oil.
  • 1 full tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water.

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.

When the dry ingredients have been mixed in the bowl, combine the vanilla extract, the water and the apple cider vinegar in a cup.

After this step, add the 1/3 cup cooking oil to the dry ingredients. (No need to mix at this point.)

Once the oil has been added to the dry ingredients, add the wet mixture in the cup to the bowl as well.

Using a hand-mixer of some kind, beat the batter until it is smooth making sure not to leave any dry flour in the bottom of the bowl. This should take about two minutes or so if you are using an electric mixer.

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees and choose the center rack of the oven to bake the cake.

Pour the batter into a 9-inch x 9-inch greased baking pan.

Bake the cake for 35 minutes and test to see if it is done. (It should be done when a straw or a thin blade penetrates the cake and comes out with no cake residue on it.)

While the cake is still warm from the oven, lightly spray the top with a cooking spray.

After using the cooking spray sparingly, dust the top of the finished cake with as generous a dusting of regular white confectioners’ sugar as you desire.

This cake is somewhat chewey and while it might not be the best you have ever eaten, I believe you will find it to be a creditable treat.

I find that I can become addicted to this recipe readily because it transports me back to another day.

The Naked Truth

President Trump announced recently that all churches should reopen Sunday and he said that if state governors did not want to allow all churches to open, He (The President) would override the governors and make sure the churches opened Sunday.

This comes at a time when the president has been saying that the deaths and numbers of new coronavirus cases are “Going Down” all over the country when, in reality, they are not going down but are steadily rising.

After issuing the edict that all churches should open Sunday, I find it hilarious that the President never bothered to attend church at all on the magic day but went to the golf links instead.

I sense a lesson in this …. I am trying to put my finger on it.

Headlong Plunge

We are entering a crucial period in the fight against the coronavirus devil.

The civil society seems determined to rush into reopening business and other things that would allow for masses of people to congregate closely together again even though, in most places, the number of coronavirus cases are still rising, no vaccine is in sight, and deaths from the plague continue unabated.

Some people are viewing the local government-mandated social distancing rules and the stay at home rules and the face mask rules as in intrusion against their civil liberties even though these things were designed to save human lives in the face of a largely unknown terror. The Christian Community seems divided on the issue of whether or not to resume in person church gatherings just yet — some are making claims that their freedoms are being eroded by states, some are claiming the Divine Protection will prevent them from catching the disease regardless of whether they group together in enclosed spaces for lengthy periods of time and others are simply uncertain.

I heard one local church recently preaching the message that their assembly had become the New Goshen, referring to the ancient Israelite community that was spared the Egyptian plagues during Pharoah’s times.

While I was reading that Old Testament-based claim about Biblical immunity through faith, I ran across an article in a news source that said that one church had decided to hold inside in-person services and that a single infected member had caused 108 other members of their congregation to test positive for the disease.

I guess this is one of those doors of choice that can swing either way.

Even though the churches are debating the issue of whether or not to hold in-person services inside their buildings, I still see signs everywhere where I live telling people in drug stores and super markets and other places, “Face masks are required by law” and social distancing is still being practiced in the stores and malls …and parks ….and beaches …. with people on one side of the question absolutely denying the need for any of the safety precautions and other people still convinced that the time to dispense with the safety precautions has not yet arrived.

This very Sunday is going to be a real test of which course is the proper course to follow.

This Sunday many houses of worship are going to go all out with in-person meetings inside their buildings and I believe we will have about 14 days or so in which to find out what the results of that venture are going to be.

(The incubation time for the plague from exposure to symptoms showing is supposed to be either 4 to 6 days after exposure and in some cases up to 14 days or more. But it is my personal belief that the next two week period is going to show us whether opening up all the venues where people can freely come together again is a good idea or not. It will all depend on whether or not there are significant spikes in the disease or whether or not the death rate spirals again.

None of this can be taken lightly and needs the deepest and most sincere kind of prayer!I love Jesus intently but I also would not want to live with the fact that I might have infected somebody with this thing by attending a church service where people are close together in a closed environment. I believe that I owe it in love to my fellow Christians to avoid any such possibility.By the same token, I have to admit that I am also not very much enthralled by the idea of someone who has the disease spreading it to me in such surroundings.

I know that sounds selfish, but I am asking God to forgive me if it is selfish. I definitely do not wish to be selfish!I have faith that God can protect people in such circumstances but I am not going to be foolish enough to “Presume” that He will protect everybody because His Ways are higher than our own and His thoughts are higher than our own …and it is not always possible to know why He does things the way He does them.

I hate to sound worldly here but I am personally avoiding all such possibilities until such time as I hear the medical experts and the scientists sounding the all clear or until I receive a revelation from on High … which is entirely possible because we are living in the days when such things are entirely possible:Acts 2:17 – And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

There is no reason for me to believe that churches and business places of all kinds cannot still perform essential services without the necessity of doing them in person in a closed environment.

I believe they can perform these services because I have been observing them doing it for quite awhile now ….online services are still providing necessary spiritual guidance and opportunities for worship and praise … food baskets are still going out to the needy — It can be done … it is being done.I have heard people ask, “Well if we can go to the big stores and do our shopping, why can’t we go to church?”

First of all, nobody at the big box stores are shouting and singing and shouting and singing is one of the easiest ways to spread the disease … and a single cough or a single sneeze can send the virus particles across 5 or 6 church pews and two to three grocery aisles where they remain in aerosol form in the air for at least one to three minutres allowing unwitting victims to walk through the invisible mists.

Where there is a choir or a lot of more vulnerable older folks, the risks of infection skyrocket.

I know this whole question boils down to freedom of choice. That is fine with me. Freedom of choice is as American as apple pie.I feel that these issues have become hot button political issues and that is disturbing to me too because nothing that has to do with The Word of God should ever become political.

But these issues are, in fact, being politicized all over the country and I think that is just an unfortunate and sad situation and I think we all ought to be praying about that too.

I didn’t want to have to get involved in this discussion but I felt a strong inner urge to address it in the event that it might be of interest or some help to some people somewhere.

I am not going to attempt to tell people what to do because people are going to do what people want to do no matter what I say or what any preacher says …But I am asking everyone to pray … and to pray hard and to pray often because these are matters of literal Life or Death. In Jesus Name.

Society’s Grand Reopening

Is the grand American reopening that began a couple of days ago the beginning of a return to Freedom or a sentence of something worse?

People who have been arguing for a premature reopening of the social order will tell you that it’s a recapture of freedoms lost. But I think I can safely tell you that those kind of people, for the most part, have no idea in this world of what it’s like to actually lose freedom. It seems to me like some of these impatient people are just wanting to feed their instant gratification syndrome and have no idea of the mess that their impatience might get them into.

I call it part of the Great American “Me, me and my, my and mine” syndrome to heck with everybody else!

Home quarantines and restrictions on large groups of people gathering together in one place we’re definitely needed when the coronavirus first hit home quarantines and restrictions on large groups of people gathering together in one place were definitely needed when the coronavirus first hit.

The problem is that even now the case load has continued to spiral upward even in the midst of all the anxiety to get things going again …..and the people are listening more to their politicians than they are to their medical experts — and I believe that is foolhardy and can even be life threatening to fools who refuse to listen to what is best for them.

Apparently not feeling any too secure in their overconfidence, the “Opening Rushers” are also issuing warnings (along with their loosening of the society) that significant precautions are going to continue to be extremely important during the reopening ….. things like social distancing and wearing of protective face coverings.

My personal feeling is that the people pushing the premature reopening don’t know what they are doing and are just trying an experiment with people’s lives to see how costly their faulty judgment is going to be …. before they slam the lockdowns back on everybody again when the plague spirals out of control again …. even though our Divinely-Inspired Lyre Player in the Toga on Pennsylvania Avenue has said that there will never be another lockdown.

Amazing Revelations

The news is talking about that Congressional bill that was designed to give financial support to SMALL businesses during the pandemic and the revelation is that the bill has benefited people making over a Million Dollars per year more than it has truly small businesses.

Is there any kind of surprise factor here folks?

When some of the Repubtard geniuses backing the bill were challenged on this point, their response was, “But that bill was necessary in order to save the economy.”

Aren’t business people making less than a Million dollars a year part of the economy?

My impression is that the Rethugs probably see them as part of the economy, alright, the “Expendible” part!

Trump Places Gag Order On Testimony To Congress By Coronavirus Health Experts!

Doctor Trump (er ah um, I mean “Toddler In Chief” has reportedly forbidden the medical health experts from doing any testifying before Congress about the coronavirus.

What I am wondering is, “Is this because it is almost certain that if the experts do manage to testify before Congress, they might, somehow, demonstrate that most of what the President is saying about the pandemic is shit?”

This “Gag” order is being portrayed as “Guidance” from the Trump Administration.

Knowing in advance how Trump deals with people who disagree with him about anything, I would rather rewrite the description of the “Gag” order from “Guidance from the administration” to something more on the order of “A Dictate From The Caesar” or “A Manifesto From The Tsar” — or something along those lines.

Is it just me and my imagination or do some of the administration’s management techniques somewhat resemble some of those used by President Putin of Russia?

Correct me if I am wrong but haven’t “They” (“He”) already forbidden Dr. Anthony Faucci from spilling the beans in any kind of testimony?

I am thanking God this morning that Dr. Faucci does manage, from time to time, to get himself interviewed on some reputable news program ….

When charges were leveled about the White House wanting to ,muzzle the truth, the administration was quick to promise that such testimony would be allowed at “An appropriate time in the future.” Are any of my readers holding their breath waiting for that “Appropriate time in the future” to materialize?

I was negatively impressed recently when I heard the ….’Leader’ ….’Bumbler’ … ‘Stumbler.’… ‘Petulant child’ …. ‘performer’ …. in the White House say on television. “Vaccine or no vaccine, we are back!” —- Somebody really is concerned with our health and safety up there on The Hill, aren’t they? LOL!

I will tell you right up front where I stand on “White House Guidance” these days, friends …. I don’t believe a damned word of anything that comes out of The White House. I rely entirely on the information I receive from my own State governor because it looks like he is doing everything the right way and he has been lauded far and wide for his coronavirus leadership already.

But I truly believe that the White House has gone kind of off the rails and that none of the higher leadership seems to care at all whether citizens live or die and I always thought that protecting the lives of The American People was part of the presidential oath of office.
